Project Manager is needed for a hybrid contract opportunity with our Columbus, Ohio client. The position will manage intermediate or complex customer focused projects at both the transmission and distribution levels, within a matrix team environment, to support aggressive Associated Business Development (ABD) growth strategies. 

 

  • Hybrid role in office 3 days per week – Candidate needs to be local.
  • Potential for occasional travel, could be up to 15% including local travel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction, training, coordination, and effective communication to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close projects in a safe, efficient, economical, risk-balanced approach to achieve short and long range goals and to obtain maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Develop relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders including internal customers, external customers, team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and industry peers.
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise assigned project activities becoming proficient in all aspects.
  • Assist in developing detailed customer proposals, competitive bids, and scope of work documents to include project schedules, timelines, procurement activities, and contractor resources.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with members of the transmission organization, as well as, customer account managers and distribution team members throughout the service territory.
  • Maintain/update ABD database as needed.
  • Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on Zero Harm.
  • Manage, develop, review and coordinate the project/outage plan, schedule, and budget becoming proficient in all aspects.
  • Manage project costs and provide thorough reporting for purposes of invoicing/financial audits.
  • Effectively communicate project details and status updates..
  • Lead planning meetings and project updates including typical stakeholder presentations.
  • Provide clear and concise written and oral reports and other communications.
  • Develop and actively manage working relationships with the project team, plant and operating company staff, internal and especially external customers or partners, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Manage all aspects of a project, from commencement to closeout, ensuring that all project closeout documents are compiled and archived as needed.
  • Foster teamwork and actively pursue customer satisfaction.
  • Provide specific guidance, instruction, and training to improve design, systems, procedures, processes, schedules, and costs.
  • Confidently challenge others at a level of informed understanding in all project work.
  • Ensure maximum customer satisfaction and demonstrate effective and efficient performance of project work activities on intermediate project level at a minimum .
  • Mentor other project managers or staff as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, or related field of study with 3 years qualified experience, or two-year Associate’s degree in the same disciplines with 5 years of qualified experience.
  • 3 years of qualified experience as a PROJECT MANAGER preferred, OR demonstrated competencies, knowledge, and skillset through achieved results in a shorter timeline.
  • Qualified experience includes outage management activities, business administration, major construction field experience, project estimating, controls, and engineering, and/or comparable experience in a competitive production environment.
  • Knowledge in construction safety, negotiations, scope development/control, cost estimating, construction contracting, project controls/reporting, and quality control are beneficial.
  • Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems is favorable.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.
  • *Electric Utility experience is strongly preferred, ideally with customer facing role or leading execution of customer focused projects/solutions
