Workstation Refresh Technician

Our Columbus, Ohio client has a contract opportunity for a Workstation Refresh Technician who will be responsible for deploying and configuring Windows 10 workstations, coordinating with end users to replace existing machines, and ensuring a seamless transition to new hardware. This role requires adherence to established procedures, effective communication skills, and the ability to provide occasional onsite support.

Essential Functions:

• Workstation Imaging and Deployment: Utilize prewritten guides to image Windows 10 workstations and prepare them for deployment.
• User Coordination: Schedule and coordinate with end users to replace their existing machines, minimizing disruption to their workflow.
• Post-Deployment Support: Assist users in restoring their new machines to previous functionality using established deployments and guides.
• Remote Support: Maintain availability via Microsoft Teams to support users with any issues related to computer replacement.
• Documentation and Tracking: Utilize ticketing systems and tracking spreadsheets to monitor progress and ensure accurate documentation of activities.
• Onsite Support: Provide occasional assistance to the Service Desk with simple onsite support tasks as needed.
• The role requires physical activity, including lifting and moving computer equipment, and the ability to navigate office spaces to perform workstation installations and support.

 
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in following guides for computer imaging and provisioning; basic understanding of Windows 10 operating systems.
• Customer Service: Strong communication skills to keep users informed of progress and to provide assistance confidently and effectively.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and walk for extended periods to move assets as necessary.

 
PREFERRED:

• Experience: Previous experience in IT support, particularly in workstation deployment and refresh projects.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
