IT Network Project Manager – remote
Our Akron, Ohio client is seeking an IT Network Project Manager to join their team as a contractor. The IT Network Transport-WAN group is a cohesive multidisciplinary technical team responsible for operation, design, engineering, and implementation of reliable 24x7 mission critical communications across more than 2,700 devices interconnected by 10,000 miles of company owned fiber and 3,500 miles of wireless microwave backhaul.

- Location: Akron, OH preferred or within service territory (OH, PA, NJ, WV, MD).
- Role is remote but required to be located within service territory.
- Occasional travel for onsite travel meetings 4 x a year maybe it's not even a hard requirement.
Responsibilities:
- The client WAN is comprised of diverse DWDM, MPLS, SONET, and Microwave systems to deliver communications from remote substations to core data centers.
- Associated team member duties within a utility environment include licensing, regulatory, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Forward-thinking strategies, increased reliability, and scalable solutions to meet the growing needs of internal customers are a daily focus.
- As a member of the Transport-WAN Team, this position has responsibility of supporting, coordinating, managing, and facilitating key initiatives and responsibilities associated with expansion and optimization of WAN technologies including DWDM, MPLS, SONET, AMI, and Microwave systems.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between teams, providing clear and concise communication to ensure all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee projects to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and within budget.
Continuous Improvement: Evaluate project processes and outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, status reports, and post-project evaluations.
Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
Network Support: Provide support for network-related projects, understanding key concepts and fundamentals to effectively contribute to project success.
High-Level Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Project Management, Engineering, or Information Technology.
- Basic understanding of network concepts, terms, and functions.
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in network-related projects.
- Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Maintains strict adherence to safety programs and policy guidelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges and identify innovative solutions.
- High level of ownership and accountability for project success.
- Occasional travel for on-site project meetings.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant certifications are a plus.
