Fiber Networks Specialist – open to remote

The Fiber Networks Specialist in this contract role can be remote however, the candidate will need to be within the client footprint since occasional travel may be needed for meetings and projects. The Fiber Networks team is responsible for managing the design, construction, and maintenance of the fiber network which provides mission critical support to the transmission companies and local electric distribution companies in the operation of the electrical network.
 
As a Fiber Networks Specialist, you will work with management, engineering and field personnel within IT and other FirstEnergy departments and will work closely with a wide range of fiber contractors and sub-contractors on a daily basis for the installation of new fibers, planned and unplanned maintenance events, and more.

Principal Tasks and Accountabilities

 
Ideally, the Fiber Networks Specialist would have the following work experience

 
Fiber Networks Specialists are also expected to participate in meetings and team discussions in a professional and inclusive manner. Fiber Networks Specialist positions consist of Levels 1 through IV. The expectations for those specific levels include:
 
Level 1 Requirements
• Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and develop relationships.
• Knowledge of basic research techniques
• Desire to learn grow, work across the client, and deliver results.
• Display analytical abilities, including problem solving and decision making.
• Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
• Basic communication skills: ability to work in a team environment.
• Time management skills
• Minimum of two (2) years of direct outside fiber experience.
 
Level 2 Requirements
• All previous level requirements.
• Demonstrate growth in use of research techniques.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate understanding of applicable products and/or services.
• Understand best practices and techniques for addressing customer concerns.
• Demonstrate maturity to exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments.
• Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of direct outside fiber experience.
 
Level 3 Requirements
• All previous level requirements.
• Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships.
• Excellent analytical abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• In-depth understanding of applicable products and/or services and of customer needs and expectations
• Use best practices and techniques for addressing customer concerns.
• Exercise independent judgment on basic projects and assignments
• Minimum of four (4) to seven (7) years of direct outside fiber experience.
