A remote contract opportunity is available for a Lead UX Designer with strong Product Management or Project management experience. The Lead User Experience (UX) Designer plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of teacher and student engagement and learning. - With strong strategic thinking and expertise in design systems, pattern libraries, and modular design approaches, you excel at identifying and solving complex system design challenges.
- You are highly skilled at collaboration, adept at facilitating design thinking workshops and fostering cross-functional partnerships with product management, research, and accessibility teams.
- Effective communication, project management and stakeholder management skills are essential.
- You are able to present ideas with confidence, gain buy-in, and inspire others at the organizational and company level.
- You are hands-on, able to execute the work, as well as mentor and train others to do the same.
- You have end-to-end UX expertise, from information architecture, user flow design, and interaction design, to prototyping and high-fidelity visual design, supporting the of delivery of high quality, accessible and optimally usable experiences for our end users.
Responsibilities
- Starting with concepts created and tested in Discovery, this role will drive detailing out consistent user experiences and clear design requirements through a user-centric methodology that aligns with the client's educational mission.
- Responsible for conceptualizing and designing the experiences in collaboration with Design Strategy leaders, Product, Academic Design, Lead Engineers and other cross-functional stakeholders, the UX Lead will employ a holistic understanding of user needs and behaviors.
- This role involves navigating the intricacies of our platform, products, data and content, utilizing design thinking to craft innovative solutions for features, as well as establish future patterns for existing and future product integrations within our School platforms.
- From ideation and requirements definition through implementation, the Lead UX Designer will facilitate teams through the entire process, ensuring a seamless and compelling experience for end users.
- Collaboration with cross-functional partners and facilitation of design thinking methodologies are critical for this role’s success.

- Be a change agent evangelizing and bringing awareness to human-centered methodologies and practices within your team, supporting a cross-functional product team at different stages of product definition

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Visual Communication, Digital Design, Product Design, Human Centered Design, or related field required. MFA or advanced degree a plus.
- Portfolio that demonstrates your design work in web and mobile solutions. We want to see and understand your process and how you collaborate across functions within the Product Development Lifecycle.
- 7+ years' work experience in product development, user experience design, product design, creative, or marketing industries.
- Knowledge in software usability principles and current trends and advances in interface design.
- Product development experience in Ed Tech a plus.
- Demonstrated success leading design efforts across multiple products to achieve a central solution.
- Extensive experience creating low and high fidelity journey maps, workflows, sketches and design documentation.
- Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills.
- Advanced knowledge of UX wireframe, visual design, and prototyping software (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD / Creative Suite, Lucid/Miro).
- In-depth understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Deep understanding of responsive design approaches
- High-level understanding of accessibility guidelines and designing for optimal accessibility
- Demonstrated experience working in an Agile environment.
- Understand a target audience's needs and other motivating factors, and translate them into concepts for compelling interactions and experiences.
