Designer Associate

Our New Albany, Ohio client has a contract opportunity for a Designer Associate who will perform daily work activities with direct to moderate supervision. Work activities to be performed include computer-aided drafting to prepare maps, sketches, schematics and other engineering-related drawings. The position includes associated clerical work to properly manage and document the work activities performed, as per client requirements for the position.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
  • Update 3D Inventor part orientations for 500 power equipment components in 3D Inventor.
  • Find and update all similar Inventor Parts in the same category to ensure alignment of practices and consistency.
  • Ability to check work by swapping Parts into Inventor Assemblies to confirm adherence and compliance.
  • Obtain information required to perform work from verbal communication, sketches, marked drawings, listings, field notes, vendors' catalogs and technical reference manuals.
  • Read vendors' prints, shop and other drawings and equipment operating instructions, and incorporate that information into the work being performed.
  • Actively seeks out information to increase technical knowledge in area of responsibility
  • Applies technical knowledge in resolving basic problems encountered in assigned work
  • Coordinate information and design across a multi-disciplinary team to ensure deliverables are compliant with project expectations
  • Collaborate with various departments during the course of the project
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned as standalone or in support of Teammates.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in applied science (AAS) drafting and computer aided design (CAD) or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology, or relevant equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Equivalent experience without AAS degree - high school graduate and 4 years of experience in electric utility and/or related industrial drafting and/or computer aided drafting work.
  • Proficiency in the use of 3D computer aided design software, including: Autodesk Inventor & Vault.
  • Experience with Spatial Business Systems (SBS) Substation Design Software (SDS), SBS P4I, SBS UtilityDataHub, and AutoCAD are preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software.
