Our Columbus, Ohio client has a direct hire opportunity for an Electronics Technician / Installer who will build, assemble, test, QC and troubleshoot electronic and mechanical components for instrumentation used for life science, metabolic and environmental research. This position applies knowledge of electronics and mechanical principles while building equipment. The electronic technician provides skilled mechanical and electronic support to all areas of manufacturing.




  • Mechanical assembly and sub-assembly of front and rear panel components.
  • Assembly of electro-mechanical goods from prepared sub-assemblies and connect mid-level assemblies with electrical and pneumatic connections into final system.
  • Perform system electrical and pneumatic testing in accordance with applicable documentation to validate complete system function.
  • Confirm system compliance with build document; perform Quality Assurance check and document QA process.
  • Use basic hand tools and machine tools for assembly of electro-mechanical parts.
  • Use a multi-meter for testing cables and low voltage signals.
  • Mount components and wire panels.
  • Use a soldering iron for both cable and PCB (through-hole) assembly.
  • Troubleshooting to the PCB level.
  • Pack orders.

  • Travel to domestic and international client sites to provide system level assembly, testing and training.
  • Following installation and training, provide ongoing phone or email service.
  • Estimated Travel = 10% – 30%



  • Understanding of electronics.
  • Electronic testing and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Ability to follow high-level wiring and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Familiar with use of basic hand tools for assembly of electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Proper use of a soldering iron for both cable and PCB assembly.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.



  • Completed or working on an Associates or Bachelor’s in electronics or specialized technical education.
  • 2+ years’ experience as an electronics technician.
  • Willingness to travel required.
  • Previous technical field service experience a plus.
