A GIS Technician is needed for a contract role in Tulsa, OK providing expertise in Geographic Information Systems, data management principles and technology, specifically within a GE Smallworld and/or ESRI ArcGIS environment. This is an onsite position 5 days a week in the office. Prefer candidates local to Tulsa and vicinity.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
- Create, revise and maintain technical data used for reports maps and sketches.
- Create, revise and maintain material and property equipment records.
- Obtain information required to perform work from multiple resources including; verbal/electronic communications, sketches, marked drawings, field notes, vendors’ catalogs and technical reference manuals.
- Work with other organizations of the company to resolve discrepancies to assure that data reflects accurate field conditions.
- Design and run moderately complex queries and reports defined to pull data from graphical and non graphical databases.
- Demonstrate a proficiency in various related data systems utilized to perform GIS duties.
- Assist in training others in the technical aspects of the various systems utilized to perform GIS duties.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting or related field OR Associate’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting or related field OR High School/equivalency.
- Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree in GIS – 0 year related experience; non-GIS Bachelors or Associate’s degree – 2 years related GIS experience; High School – 5 years related GIS experience.
- Valid state driver’s license
- Must have good working knowledge of GPS concepts and principles of data analysis
- Experience working with large data sets
- The ability to distinguish colors
- Good communication skills (both verbally and written)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel and Access
- Possess knowledge and experience with GE Electric Office and/or ESRI ArcGIS Portal and Portal Applications (WebApps, Operations Dashboards, Experience Builder, ArcGIS Online).
- Experience in field collection methods beneficial.
